The "Quick search" tab uses an enhanced searching interface (Encore) to locate resources available at City University.
Enter a term in the search box above, and you will be able to quickly refine your results by language, type of material and publication date. The keywords in the tag cloud will help you limit your search to the most relevant results.
Other key features of this new product are: article search and new material recently added to the library stock.

Title search
Search hints:
Type the first few words of the title. (You don't need to type The, A, An at the start of a title). For example:
- business accounting and finance
- business accounting
Journal search
You can search for Journals by title or follow the link to our a-z list of e-journals below.
During the e-journals transition phase the a-z list provides the most up-to-date information on our current e-holdings.
Search for Databases
You can search for databases by Name or by Subject. You can also search the A to Z index.

Reading Lists
Within an online reading list, references to books held by the library link directly to the book record in the library catalogue. This allows you to immediately check its shelfmark, the availability, place holds, etc.
All reading lists supplied to the library are made available electronically via the library catalogue. If you can't find your course code or your course module, please ask your tutor to send a copy of the reading list to the library.
ISBN/ISSN search
You can search for ISBNs, ISSNs and other international standard numbers. You can include spaces and hyphens or leave them out without affeting the search. For example:
- 0140-0118 or 01400118
- 0140012133 or 014-001213-3

Subject heading
or
Every record on the catalogue is classified by subject. The subject headings used correspond to two different schemes:
- Library of Congress subject headings: these are general subject headings.
- MESH (Medical subject heading): these are specialist subject headings used by the nursing library.
